Hayden of The Cube Gym

Hayden of The Cube Gym

Makers is a series about the people building something worth paying attention to. Their craft, their world, and the moment in the day they call their own.

From the plate to the gym floor

Hayden Quinn built his name in food, but fitness was always the quieter constant. What started as a backyard project in Collaroy has grown into The Cube Gym in Brookvale, now home to more than 300 members and 80 classes a week.

What brings people together, it turns out, isn't only on a plate. For Hayden it's also this floor, this crew.

The unglamorous grind

Keeping the place spotless is the daily grind nobody claps for. The real challenge lands on weekends, when the sun comes out and nobody wants to actually go home, because leaving means leaving the community behind.

His favourite hour is Wednesday, 5:30pm. Gym owner hat off, just another face in the class.

Everyone clocks the reps. Few clock the recovery.

Hayden's favourite room in the whole gym isn't the weights floor, it's the massage room, where an hour spent easing out a hard week matters just as much as the work that made it.

Time spent recovering is still time spent training.

The massage room, not the weights floor. Recovery counts as training.

Why we tell these stories

Bausele is built on the same idea. Real people, real craft, and small details that carry meaning. That is what Makers is about, and it is what we build into every watch.
