Every Commission Tells a Story
Since 2011, we've collaborated with everyone from the Australian Defence Force to the Sydney Opera House.
Some projects are classified for military issue or private personal commissions, whilst others are made to celebrate. Here's some of our highlights.
The First Bespoke Australian Army Intelligence Corps
The Intelligence Corps were our first bespoke commission. We've made two series for them over the years with custom dials, unit insignia and sand from their training grounds sealed in the Crown Chamber.
When street art met Swiss movement.
Scott Marsh is one of Sydney's most iconic and controversial street artists: Archibald Prize finalist, muralist, and former train tagger turned gallery name.
In 2018 Bausele and Marsh found unexpected common ground. One hundred watches. Floral art from his 'Bouquet' series on the dial. Crushed gravel from the train yards of his youth sealed inside the Crown Chamber.
His story, worn on the wrist.
Sydney Opera House
When the Sydney Opera House came calling the brief was simple: create something as iconic as the building itself. We designed a dial with moving sail elements and a piece of the Sydney Opera Houses tile in the Crown Chamber.
Royal Australian Air Force - Centenary Aviator & Airfield
For the Royal Australian Air Force's centenary, we created two models: the Aviator and the Airfield.
With an aviation-inspired design, RAAF insignia, and case materials tied to their legacy, it was available to both serving members of the RAAF and collectors.
Royal Australian Air Force. 100 Year Centenary.
In 2021, the Royal Australian Air Force marked 100 years of service to Australia. Bausele was chosen to create two bespoke watches for the Centenary: the Aviator and the Airfield, designed in close collaboration with the Air Force 2021 team. Both watches sold out on pre-order. 1,000 units. Chief of Air Force Air Marshal Mel Hupfeld and his wife Louise personally visited our Sydney store to receive their pieces. Royalties from the programme were directed to the Air Force Museum, contributing to the restoration of a former search and rescue vessel for public display.
"Your enthusiasm for military watches and embrace of the Air Force Centenary brought style, quality and vision to the program."
Air Commodore AR Elfverson, Director General Air Force 2021
Royal Australian Regiment - 75 Years of Service
The Royal Australian Regiment's 75th anniversary called for something special, so we worked directly with the regiment to create a watch that honored their history.
The Crown Chamber held sand from Gallipoli, whilst the dial featured unit colours.
Seconde/Seconde - Perspective
We handed French artist Seconde/Seconde a Sydney Diver as a canvas, collaboraiting to create a design that plays with perspective:
Shark fin or surfboard fin? Depends on your perspective.
This watch invites you to consider dual perspectives in everything, especially your relationship with the natural world.
Under the hood, it's still the best dive watch made in Australia, just with art on top.
The Dial Artist - Sydney Diver Golden Reef
Chris Alexander, The Dial Artist, hand-paints watch dials with a level of detail most would believe is impossible.
Using a process where no two dial are alike, Chris used natural oxidation and 24-carat gold leaf application to hand-craft dials that capture the Great Barrier Reef from a birds eye view.
Housed in a black dive watch case, the Crown Chamber contains sand from the Gold Coast beaches.
Harvard Business School - Sydney Diver HBS Edition
A bespoke private edition to commemorate a significant milestone for Harvard Business School.
Created in design collaboration with the Harvard Business School, it features a full-lume dial and bezel with custom insignia and transparent caseback featuring the Harvard Business School logo.
