Watch Servicers Past and Present

MARK PLESZCZYNSKI (MURWILLUMBAH, NSW)

Mark was Bausele’s Watch servicer for 11 years and was a fine asset to the company. We are sad to see him go into retirement, but we thank him for his years of service and the quality work he performed.

Here is a bit of background on Mark who we appreciated very much to have as our watch servicer with his years of expertise.

Born in Poland, 1956. Emigrated with family to Australia via Austria in 1971. Upon finishing secondary schooling joined Omega as an Apprentice in 1976, and further training at Omega factory in Switzerland. During the 10 years of Omega employment Mark has risen through the ranks starting as an apprentice to being the workshop foreman. The wide scope of employment included training other watchmakers in other cities to be part of “Swiss Timing Team” for the Commonwealth games in Brisbane. Mark left Omega in 1987 to start his own watch servicing business. His reputation has spread; however, he has found that life is best in Murwillumbah northern NSW and he has now settled here after a 5-year stint back in Victoria. His 35-year experience in servicing watches from the latest in quartz technology to the finest of old-time antiques. With European upbringing and Swiss training, his attention to getting the most in the service of your timepiece is bound to be complete, both in performance and value. Having the benefit of working with high end brands, as well as down to earth value for money watches. Mark has been able to accumulate a large range of spare parts. He also possesses a wide range of tools for service, as well as analytical and testing equipment. All this is necessary in the service and in final testing of components and completed watches to guarantee the performance that is expected by today’s customer.

RAPHAEL PFUND, HOROLOGIUM (BERKSHIRE, UK)

Horologium, a UK-based watch service centre dedicated to providing after-sales service for independent brands. Raphael is an accredited member of the BHI and graduated first of his class from the watchmaking school ZeitZentrum in Switzerland with a Federal Certificate of Proficiency specialized in servicing and restoration of contemporary and antique watches and clocks. Since then he has gained international experience in the after sales service environment for multinational independent brands.

The typical process of after-sale service starts with the disassembly of the watch and the movement. Raphael and his team then clean the case and the bracelet – if present – in an ultrasonic bath. The movement parts are cleaned in our state-of-the-art machine and then double checked for cleanliness and functionality.

The next step is to reassemble the movement, apply the appropriate greases and oils and regulate it back to factory standard. Raphael's team then monitor the watch to confirm everything runs as it should and afterwards ship it back to the customer, with 2-year warranty – on our partner brands – on the work carried out. This whole process usually takes us around two weeks from the point the customer accepted the estimate. You can be assured your watch will be in great hands.
