Osheen of Sleepybloc

Osheen of Sleepybloc

Makers is a series about the people building something worth paying attention to. Their craft, their world, and the moment in the day they call their own.

The café that became a bridge

Osheen built and sold cafés for years before opening Sleepybloc, a brew bar and community event space tucked into Marrickville. He runs businesses in Yokohama and Sydney, so his café became the bridge between them.

Stacks of Japanese magazines. Walls full of memorabilia. A corner that asks nothing of you except to stay a little longer. A glimpse of Japan, via Marrickville.

Inside Sleepybloc. Japanese magazines, memorabilia, and a corner built to slow you down.

The ritual hasn't changed

The business has changed over the years, but the ritual hasn't. In early, a fresh bag open, quiet out front while the neighbourhood wakes up. First pour to last sip, done the same way every day.

Makers don't just work in interesting places. They create them.

Why we tell these stories

Bausele is built on the same idea. Real people, real craft, and a ritual worth keeping. That is what Makers is about, and it is what we build into every watch.
